Objectives and Contents

Objectives: Objective: The aim of this course is to teach the active use of devices and equipment used in optometry.
Content: Content: This course covers topics such as: determining and marking the focal point in multifocal and prismatic lenses using a focometer; ophthalmic prisms, prismatic effect, calculation of prism direction and magnitude, principles and applications of prisms; identification of telescopic glasses; mounting single and multifocal lenses in frames of various materials; transposition operations and calculation of addition value; errors made in writing and applying eyeglass prescriptions; reflections and coatings in lenses, prevention and benefits of reflection, absorption; polarizing eyeglass lenses and their mounting; determining the nominal and actual dioptric power of lenses; the effect of vertex distance on the dioptric power of the lens; high-diopter and lenticular lenses; and aphakic lenses.
