Objectives and Contents

Objectives: The aim of this course is to teach the fundamental concepts of information security in health information systems and to provide students with the knowledge and skills to protect health data in accordance with the principles of confidentiality, integrity, and accessibility. The course covers topics such as health data security, personal data protection, access authorization, encryption, cyber threats, security policies, backup and disaster recovery plans, ethics, and standards, and aims to develop students' competencies in these areas.
Content: The course covers the following topics: introduction to information security, principles of confidentiality, integrity and accessibility, protection of health data, the Personal Data Protection Law (KVKK), access authorization and authentication processes, encryption techniques, antivirus and security software, cyber threats, information security policies, logging and auditing, user training and social engineering, backup and disaster recovery plans, national and international security standards, and information security ethics in healthcare.
