Pedodontics, also known as Pediatric Dentistry, deals with the healthy development and treatment of milk and permanent teeth in children aged 0-14.
Early childhood caries can cause significant damage to the dental tissue. Pediatric zirconium crowns are specially designed, pre-fabricated caps for children. This allows teeth that have been reduced in size but are planned to remain in the mouth to be preserved in an aesthetic manner.
In cases where tooth decay has progressed, to keep the tooth in the mouth, the affected part or the entire pulp tissue containing nerves and blood vessels is removed. After the procedure, a filling is applied to restore the tooth’s original shape and function.
In cases of early milk tooth loss, space maintainers are used to preserve the position for the incoming permanent tooth. This prevents neighboring teeth from shifting into the empty space, reducing the risk of early crowding.
Fluoride is an element that strengthens teeth and prevents cavities. To prevent early childhood caries, fluoride applications under the supervision of a dentist are recommended.
